Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Spring, TX 77380

Job duties and responsibilities :

  • Design and integrate medium voltage, low voltage, and control voltage systems and products to meet the customers' needs, size and specify electrical equipment.

  • Generate wire harness schematics, as well as 1 line and 3 line drawings.

  • Design electrical cabinets based on UL standards and NEC guidelines.

  • Conduct system studies using ETAP, including short circuit, load flow, protection coordination, and arc flash assessments.

  • Participate in the loop and unit testing to ensure that the software and systems teams understand electrical requirements.

  • Work with suppliers to define technical requirements and optimize their products and seamlessly integrate them into EKU products/projects.

  • Help customers troubleshoot field issues and "train"on system functionality and safety requirements.

  • Create, review, and provide feedback on technical documentation.

  • Support the field service division with continued technical knowledge transfer.

Requirements for Sr. Electrical Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering + 4 years of experience in the role of Electrical Engineer or Electrical Engineering Technician.

  • Experience to include 4 years of experience leading projects in electrical engineering field including medium and low voltage AC/DC systems and standards (including switchgear, transformers, generators, grounding methodologies, VFDs, inverters, and rectifiers) and system studies using ETAP.

  • 3 years of experience with control system design (including generator protective relays; electrical cabinet and wire harness design using EPLAN; relay logic and PLC based control systems; Matlab/Simulink State machines; embedded controllers; digital/analog I/O specification; and hardware in the loop (HiL) testing with CANoe and/or CANape). 

  • 2 years of experience with battery management systems.

Domestic travel, up to 15-20% of the time, for business meetings and to help facilitate delivery of client services may be required.
